Episode 13 Zapruder Part 5 Published Apr 14, 2021
Episode 13 Zapruder Part 5 continues the story of the Zapruder film, and how it evolved as a central piece of evidence and a controlling element of the investigation. A controlling element from the standpoint of attempting to assess the problems with so much of the corroborating forensic and circumstantial evidence that were part of the assassination story from the very beginning. As we have said in prior episodes, there was no eyewitness, or eyewitnesses, that actually saw anyone pull the trigger that day in Dallas. As a result, this case evolved very quickly into an analysis of the forensics and circumstances. The Zapruder film was the only film that captured the actual assassination itself, and it’s cinematic and photographic evidence becomes central to tying together much of the other ballistics information.
Episode 13 continues the story of the film’s odyssey during the years that Time, Inc. owned the Zapruder film through April 1975 and the fascinating events that involved the film during that period.
Complex cases without an eyewitness that can actually identify the shooter, make the forensic and circumstantial evidence that much more important. Ironically, problems abound with much of the evidence in this case and the Zapruder film puts much of the evidence in the original story told by the authorities in doubt. Evidence that is complex, incomplete and sometimes conflicting, and evidence that audiences find fascinating and perplexing when they hear the details.
