Episode 148 is the first of two episodes in a two part series related to the CIA/Mafia plots to kill Castro. Plots that were an integral part of the the Bay of Pigs invasion. Listen to this stunning story as Sheffield Edwards pitches the idea to use the mafia, and Richard Bissell buys into it. And how they then use a “cut out” operative Robert Maheu to engage Johnny Roselli, a mafia don, to get the plot rolling. Shortly thereafter, Sam Giancana and Santo Trafficante join the mission team. The plot takes us to Miami and to a classic scene that includes Frank Sinatra in the heyday of the exile movement in South Florida and the counter revolution that was mounting against Castro.
