Episode 25 Oswald Interrogation Part 2 Published Jul 16, 2021
Episode 25 is the second of several episodes on the Oswald interrogation. He was apprehended on Friday afternoon shortly after the assassination took place and his life would be over less than 48 hours later. Oswald’s death along with the long gunman narrative eliminated the necessity of a trial and paved the way for an investigative cover up. This series of episodes focuses on the precious few hours of interrogation that took place in that 48 hour period and what we know about them.
When I first heard of this podcast on FB I listened to over 30 episodes in 3 days. I’ve since listened to most of them a second, and some a third time. I was 15 years old when I watched Jack Ruby shoot LHO on TV. My mom said, “They shut him up.” I was quite bewildered by her saying that. Eventually after reading Mark Lane’s Rush To Judgement, and over the years quite a few others I too rejected the Warren Report and assumed a conspiracy.
All these years later, revisiting the case when a new documentary or book attracts my attention, I have learned quite a bit from these podcasts. In particular in those dealing with the interrogation of LHO. I had read, and believed, that Oswald had never been debriefed after his return from the USSR. I now know that in fact the FBI did interview him, and Marina.
I knew there were no recordings or a stenographer during Oswald’s interrogation sessions but was surprised at the notes taken by some of those who participated in the sessions. LHO’s lying repeatedly when questioned was also surprising to me. For instance, claiming he never used the alias Alex Hidell when he had a draft card in that name on his person. That he never owned a rifle.
There are too many facts that cannot be disputed that lead me to believe he was an intelligence operative for one agency or the other, if not both, but there are so many occurrences that leave us questioning if a man who assassinated the President could a minute and a half later have been calmly and cooly drinking a Coke while a Dallas policeman confronted him pointing a revolver at his midsection.
Many thanks to Jeff Crudele for this labor of love !
