Episode 101 Lee Harvey Oswald Part 2 WDSU Radio Interviews

Episode 101 is the second episode in season two of JFK The Enduring Secret. We begin our wander this season with an in depth review of Lee Harvey Oswald, the principal character in the JFK assassination from the government’s point of view. Instead of starting with the early years, we begin our understanding of the accused assassin by listening to the only extended recording of Oswald that exists. Some three months before the assassination, Oswald was involved in a scuffle after handing out leaflets on a street corner in New Orleans. Leaflets that were in support of the Fair Play for Community Committee a pro Castro organization. That incident led to an opportunity just about a week later to participate in two different radio interviews conducted by New Orleans radio station WDSU. Episode 100 covers the background and the show which aired on April 17th, 1963 and episode 101 covers the second show which aired a few days later on August 21st. Join us for the whole series of episodes about the fantastic goings on that encompass this part of the JFK story. Enjoy! Jeff

Hi Jeff, I started late and am back a few episodes (back in the 80’s where the comments are closed) but catching up quickly. I just wanted to say I appreciate the Podcast very much for many reasons. I’ve learned a lot about JFK – even though I’d say I knew quite a bit coming in – and you’ve definitely stretched my mind in many, many ways. I also really like and admire how you’ve put your SOUL into these episodes – including your background, your family, your ups, your downs, etc. I feel that in some ways you are a friend to me, and I don’t say that lightly. I wish you all the best and I am looking forward to the journey ahead – I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Have a great weekend and a wonderful summer – Paul Spanbauer (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)

      Hi Paul,

Thank you so much. I do my best to tell this story and do it the best that I can. It’s always very gratifying when I get feedback like what you have given me here. I HAVE put my SOUL into this. For whatever reason, that was the calling for me in this season of life. It’s a kind of therapy for me now too. A happy place, even when other things in life are not so happy. A while back I got a comment on the blog from a person who was reasonably supportive of the show itself and its technical content, but critical of me (heavily) for my personal wanders. It was one of the few negative episode blog entries that I have made a point of responding in detail (to). Part of my own personal mission and reason for doing this podcast is to mix the story that is JFK with my own lessons learned in life and to make the show more real for everyone. It didn’t start that way, but it has evolved into that. And I wouldn’t do it any other way. And I too, feel like I am your friend. The kindness that has been shown by folks like you, really dedicated listeners is so gratifying that it does create a connection between us. I especially feel that way when someone like yourself reaches out…someone who really gets what the show is about…which is well beyond just the facts about the JFK Assassination. YOu get it, and that is the best compliment of all and a great motivation for me. Hope you will continue to reach out and stay in touch. My Best to you Paul and I hope you have a great summer too….and hope you keep listening and reaching back out!

Fascinating listening to these radio interviews. Oswald definitely doesn’t sound like a nut,

    1. jeffcrudele says:

      Hi Thomas,

Not surprised at your reaction, as that is the reaction of most folks who listen to it in its entirety. My thinking is that this helps the audience understand how he had progressed and what he was really like, to the best we can understand that, at a point that was within three months of the assassination. It is an important data point in level setting our approach before we dive deeper into so many other topics. Thanks for commenting and I hope you keep listening and please do stay in touch.

      Thanks,

      Jeff
