Episode 118 History of the Mafia Part 3

Episode 118 is the fourth episode of a series of quasi history lessons and Part 3 of a series covering the history of the Mafia. This series is a prelude to what comes next as we begin to explore the forces that were shaping the world in that era of the twentieth century. We started first in Episode 115 with the origins of the CIA and the history of covert operations, since they will eventually play an important role in this story. Starting in Episode 116 and continuing into our current episode and beyond, we begin to discuss the Mafia and its historical origins in a small wander that provides essential history. Hear more about the great awakening of the government and the public regarding the existence of a national crime syndicate and the history of the Kefauver Committee. History that will eventually tie in to the Cuban story whose politics, geography, and economic circumstances would all collide and create an epicenter of geopolitical consequences. Consequences that would intersect in a crescendo right at the moment that JFK was coming to the Presidency. Understanding the leadup and history of the various players who involved themselves in the Cuban story , including the Mafia and CIA, is critical to this part of the journey that is JFK the Enduring Secret. Enjoy! Jeff

    Mr. Crudele,

I’m way back on Episode 21–just getting started with the podcast and really enjoying it (comments are closed on that episode). Thank you for your hard work and passion.

Two questions, do you have a contact email for the podcasr? I haven’t come across on but wondering if you take questions/comments in that manner.

Second, any chance you have a list of your favorite books on the topic, or “required reading” so to speak, for anyone interested in deepening their knowledge?

    Thanks, again!

      Hi Liz,

So nice to hear from you. Yes, I take comments either on this blog…or you can contact me directly via email at podcastJFK@gmail.com
All your comments are welcome and I appreciate getting emails. Either way is good and I do know that some folks are more comfortable communicating throught email and so whatever you are more comfortable using is fine with me. I am so glad that you are enjoying the podcast. I have a collecton of roughly about 100 books that I draw research from….some of them general in nature, some of them quite targeted in their subject matter…some very good and honestly, some just plain trash….Although, I do try to avoid the trash when researching episodes…LOL

There are many many good books to read and depending on where you are on your personal “journey” of learning about the assassination, different books provide different experiences. For folks just getting started, I always recommend Sylvia Maugher’s Accessories After the Fact. One of the earliest and most well respected research books on just the facts and how they should be interpreted….it was written in the 1960’s and of course over the years, much more has been learned about the assassination and is available to researchers and students. Still, most of that book remains spot on to this day…If you would like a more comprehensive alisting and want to give me some idea of how much you might have previously been engaged with research materials (or what you are interested in), just email me at the above email and I will do that.

      Please do keep on listening!!

      Jeff

Jeff: I noticed early on that you had that Western Pa., draw that we all do if from that area. Lol.
My family is from New Wilmington Pa. south of Sharon, north of New Castle, Pa. I’m still early on, in the series; Episode 45 or so.

I think the thing I like best about your presentation is some of your candor and the tremendous attention to detail in your delivery. Just enough, but not too much in most cases.

Thanks to your show, I also guess I am somewhat impressed with myself; the diverse amount of knowledge I’ve learned through the years on this travesty of justice.

This podcast confirms to me that I do know most of the pertinent material in this case. Most names you’ve covered I am aware of, and your show filled in many details that I didn’t know, so I’m thankful for your diligent research. Some names and topics are also new, so I’m learning also as I go.

Thank you for taking the time to put out a great series and it has got to feel good knowing you have supplied a blueprint, an accurate playbook for future generations to rely on as the start their own journey’s through the smoking glass…

    Sincerely,

    Patrick White

      Hi Patrick,

Thanks so much for commenting. Yes…I am originally from Ashtabula Ohio which is not too far from where you pointed out…My parents moved to Fort Lauderdale when I was about a year old…so any residual “accent” is from being around the family in my early years….and I spent 5 years recently as an adult in Pittsburgh (Western PA accents there for sure). So glad you are enjoying the podcast and appreciate your comments about the way we are putting the shows together. Always nice to hear that listeners know much of the material already as it makes the stories details stand out in context to the story itself…please do keep on listening!

      Thanks,

      Jeff
